  • Why is this event happening in Gloucester and not in Charlestown where the battle actually occurred?
Though we would love to have Bunker Hill 250 happen in Charlestown, there just isn't a location in the city where it would be geographically possible to hold such a program. We encourage all participants to visit the Bunker Hill monument and museum (located at: Bunker Hill Museum Address: 43 Monument Square, Charlestown, MA 02129).
  • I heard that the event organizers are implementing the same material culture guidelines as Battle Road. Is that true?
We are focused on providing the best interpretation of the Battle of Bunker Hill during 1775. As such, the material culture guidelines for Bunker Hill will mimic those set by sites such as Minuteman National Historic Park and Fort Ticonderoga in the sense that the clothing MUST be accurate to June 1775. We are calling our guidelines "Battle Road lite" with an allowance for Provincial troops wearing all linen in preparation for warm weather in June. British (Regulars) troops MUST adhere to the clothing accurately for its particular regiment circa 1775. We will not be allowing Hessian/Germans/Highlander/Dragoon impressions, as none of those units took part in the battle of Bunker Hill. If your unit represents soldiers who would not have been present at Bunker Hill, we ask you to consider coming in an alternate impression.
  • I am part of the Brigade of the American Revolution/British Brigade, but this event is not "sanctioned" by either organization. Can I still attend?
Yes, as long as your unit is a member of one of the Big Four and has insurance, your group may attend as long as they adhere to the material culture requirements and Continental Line & Boston Garrison safety regulations.
  • My unit represents an American Artillery impression. Since only three colonial artillery units present, how will that work?
To maintain historical accuracy of the Battle of Bunker Hill, the event organizers will only allow two of the best damn provincial artillery units to place their guns within the redoubt. If your group is not selected, you are encouraged to attend as either infantry, or contact Don Walker (Royal Artillery) regarding fielding on the British side for the weekend.
  • My group is part of the Continental Line, and the CL voted this our "National" event for 2025. That being the case, isn't our attendance automatic regardless of meeting the material culture guideline requirement?
No. The Continental Line voted this event as a “national event” with the understanding that all Provincial units attending must meet the requirement in order to attend. This means having clothing accurate to June 1775, and also having zero facial hair.
  • Will there be camping at the site?
Yes, there will be period camping on site for both Provincials and Regular (British) troops. The camp for Regulars will represent the campsite of the Regulars in Boston. The Provincial camp will represent Camp Cambridge.
  • Will there be camp fires?
Yes, fireboxes will be provided for each camp kitchen. Fireboxes are approximately 3’X3’.
  • Will there be activities for non-military participants?
Yes, programs are being planned for non-military participants. A schedule of programs will be sent out to all participating units.
  • Will there be parking onsite?
Yes, a detailed map highlighting all camping and parking locations will be sent out to participating units.
  • There is no rule within the Continental Line regarding facial hair not being allowed. Does that mean it'll be okay to have it for Bunker Hill 2025?
No. Bunker Hill 2025 will have a strict "NO FACIAL HAIR" policy.
